"Please, can you help me?"

Mary called CCareline late one Friday afternoon ...

She didn’t know what she would do as it was getting cooler and her children did not have warm clothes as they’d all grown so much in recent months.

Over the last few years Mary has had no choice but to sell all her jewellery to make ends meet. She’s also been making her children’s clothing from old material, as she hasn’t been able to afford new clothes.

The CCareline consultant speaking to Mary, immediately recognised that she was distressed and suggested she speak to a qualified counsellor in Parentline.

The following Monday, CCareline called Mary for feedback after her conversation with Parentline.

The CCareline consultant informed Mary that CatholicCare could provide her with once-off financial assistance from funds that were recently raised for critical cases like hers.

They also discussed further support options available to help Mary through her situation such as financial counselling, carer and relationship counselling and a women's employment service to help her find work.

Mary was extremely thankful for all the support, and later called CCareline back to express her appreciation.
